Saragaki Overhead Bridges, Kyushu, JAPAN
48 Arches in a row (each size: 23-26m)
First GRV system in Japan
The Saragaki Overhead Bridges are now under construction in Kyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Yanagawa City. The bridge deck is supported by continuous arches, total 18 spans. The spans are various from 23 to 26m, also the height various from 6.40m to 7.50m. In the layout, the bridge deck changes from two lanes to four lanes due to the geometry changes of the arches, PERI decided to use the GRV Formwork system.
The formwork for the arch is divided into 3 separate units, 2 end panels and the center arch. For the end panels PERI Girder GT24 and GRV-Waler are used. The end panels are supported by SLS Heavy Duty Spindles.
For the center arch PERI designed a truss consisting PERI Girders GT24, GRV-Waler, SLS Heavy Duty Spindles and a custom-made lower chord.
As formlining our client Nagase Construction, decided to use 2 x 12mm Plywood covered by metal sheet. The truss for the center arch is supported by the PERI ST100 shoring system. All the formwork panels are pre-assembled in our client's factory-workshop and delivered to jobsite ready to use.
After the erection of the end panels, the center panel will be lifted onto the ST 100 shoring. The end panels and the center panel are connected by GSRV Spindle Waler, to adjust the gaps between the panels. For easy stripping, a filler strip is used. For stripping the complete end panels are moved by forklift to the next usage. The center panel including shoring will be moved out on roller and transferred to the next location.
Due to the selected material and design, the formwork can be adjusted to all required geometry outlines.
